A Strong History
“I’m excited to announce my candidacy for the Santa Clarita City Council,” said Lite. “I believe the people of Santa Clarita deserve honest and effective representation in these complex times. Just like most residents of Santa Clarita, I’ve been out here living my life despite the pandemic. I could not, however, remain on the sidelines as I saw the people of our community struggling, businesses closing and dreams being crushed. As a Council member, I will represent Santa Clarita residents with the same strong leadership, advocacy, and integrity I bring to my work as a family legal advocate and philanthropic board member. I know Santa Clarita residents are resilient and with strong leadership, we will continue to find a way through these difficult times together.”
“As a young girl, I lost my mother to breast cancer. That is why I chose October 1st, the start of Breast Cancer Awareness month, to announce my candidacy in her memory. I know the struggles that come along with such a loss,” said Lite, “which is why I contribute most of my free time to shining a light on this terrible disease. I find great joy in giving back to our community through local non-profits and believe being on the City Council is the next logical step in continuing to serve even more residents of Santa Clarita.”
For the last seven years, Lite has illuminated and supported local women struggling with breast cancer through the non-profit organization Soroptimist International of Valencia (SIV). While serving as chairwoman of SIV’s signature event, Bras for a Cause, she increased the event’s earnings from $14,000 to $100,000 by reimagining the event, introducing live models, auction baskets, and more. Lite’s work through SIV has been a bright light of hope for women and girls of the Santa Clarita Valley.
When not serving the Santa Clarita community through philanthropic efforts, Lite works professionally as an Attorney and Family Legal Advocate. Lite and her father are partners at their family-owned legal practice.
“Family is essential to me. I feel blessed to have an exceptional relationship with my father, which allows us to provide outstanding service to our clients,” Lite said. “My experience as a mediator has made me an excellent listener who works toward equitable solutions. I will apply these same skills while serving on the City Council.”
Denise Lite is married to John Lite and she’s an enthusiastic stepmother to Hunter (22) and Toby (15). Together, the Lite family is proud to call Santa Clarita home.

Why I’m Running
If you know me, you know my heart. I have always had a passion for helping people. Losing my mom at ten years old made me highly compassionate for others and self-reliant. In grade school, I always stood up for the underdog. In college, I was a note-taker in classes for blind and deaf students. In adulthood, I have been drawn to organizations like Single Mother’s Outreach and Soroptimist to help women in our community face their challenges and thrive.
Additionally, I love solving problems and tackling challenges, whether for friends, clients, or non-profits. I solve complex financial and familial issues at work, helping reconfigure families. I have to consider lots of competing interests, and I enjoy that challenge. I find myself most fulfilled when I am helping others, and sitting on the City Council is the next opportunity to serve a more significant number of people. I have seen Santa Clarita grow in so many unique ways in the last ten years–we have added about 50K people to our community in that time, and with the addition of new housing here off the 126 freeway, there will be so many new faces to welcome into the community. Santa Clarita has so much to offer businesses and families. It truly is an “awesome town.”
