About Denise

Accountability
Starts Here

"

It's time to turn the LITE on.

Denise Lite exposed backroom dealings at City Hall — and was removed for it. Now she's running for District 2 to bring transparency, ethical leadership, and smart growth back to Santa Clarita. A non-partisan race where what matters is families, not party lines.

Denise Lite accountability story — Santa Clarita City Council District 2

Santa Clarita City Council · District 2 · 2026

Accountability Costs.She Paid It.

Two years ago, Denise Lite called out a backroom deal on council. They forced her out for it. Now District 2 has a chance to elect someone who won't look the other way.

Priority One

Nothing Behind Closed Doors

A Public Dashboard

Open it any time, right from your phone.

See what the city is actually spending — line by line — and how long it really takes to get a building permit approved. No press releases, no spin. The numbers, in the open, on your phone.

What Denise will do

  • Publish the city's spending online — every category, in plain view
  • Post how long building permits actually take, and keep it current

I was removed from council for challenging a backroom deal. I've already paid the price for transparency — this is what it looks like when it's built in.

Priority Two

Safer Neighborhoods, Backing Our Deputies

Boots on the Ground

Support the hiring, recruitment, and retention that keep our neighborhoods covered.

There are more than 1,400 patrol deputy vacancies across LA County — and the deputies who serve here are working nonstop to keep us safe.

What Denise will do

  • Support new deputy hiring and more recruitment classes.
  • Press the County to prioritize staffing for our neighborhoods.
  • Support residents who start their own neighborhood watches.

Twenty-nine years in the courtroom taught me what public safety looks like when it's done right — and what it costs when it isn't.

Priority Three

Infrastructure Before New Development

Roads Before Rooftops

No new neighborhoods until the roads can carry them.

Growth is coming. Approve the homes before the roads and utilities to serve them, and you lock in traffic the Valley can't undo.

What Denise will do

  • Support a resolution requiring roads and connectors to be completed at set milestones — so they're never left for a future phase.
  • Hold approvals when the infrastructure to serve them isn't built yet.
  • Require real 3D/4D renderings of proposed projects before the council votes — so residents see what's coming, not paper plans.

Every bottleneck in this city was once a plan someone approved out of order. I won't be that vote.

Priority Four

Make It Easier to Open a Business

Cut the Red Tape

Faster to open. Fewer hoops. A clear timeline.

Right now, opening a business here means months of permits and waiting — while the rent still comes due.

What Denise will do

  • Streamline the permitting process.
  • Publish a clear timeline for permits.
  • Stop making small businesses pay for City Hall's pace.

Every week a storefront sits empty waiting on a permit is a week it isn't hiring your neighbors.

Priority Five

Tackling Homelessness

A Path Off the Street

Meet people with compassion — and back the help that actually moves them forward.

Homelessness is rising across the country, and Santa Clarita isn't immune. Our unhoused neighbors are exactly that — neighbors.

What Denise will do

  • Protect the existing groundwork — shelter, prevention, and services.
  • Push that work further.
  • Match the compassion behind it with follow-through, so help reaches the people who need it.

These are our neighbors. The goal is a way off the street, not out of sight.

Priority Six

Pediatric Care, Close to Home

Our Kids Deserve a Bed Here

Champion a pediatric inpatient unit — so sick kids can heal close to home.

When a child is sick enough to be hospitalized, that care should be here — close to home, close to family.

What Denise will do

  • Convene leaders from the City, County, and local healthcare organizations to champion a pediatric inpatient unit.
  • Work to remove any city barriers to build healthcare infrastructure.
  • Lead the charge to support local pediatric care our families rely on.

No parent should have to leave the Valley to sit beside a hospital bed. Let's bring that care home.

District 2 is a brand-new Santa Clarita City Council seat — the first district ever drawn for these neighborhoods, created through a Voting Rights Act settlement.
